The Government Medical College, Patiala, is a Government College established in the Year 1953 and the second oldest Medical college in Punjab. The College is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, located in Punjab with the annual intake of 225 seats in MBBS and 144 seats in 24 disciplines of Postgraduate studies.
The Medical College and Hospital is located in a sprawling campus of over 105 acres with administrative block and self-contained blocks for the basic clinical departments and an excellent infrastructure. It has technology-infused Gallery type 4 Lecture halls in the college and 2 in the Hospital, Demonstration halls, Common rooms for Boys and Girls, Examination hall. It has latest Medical Skills Lab & Departmental museums. The well-equipped, modernized, and latest Technology-driven equipment make the Laboratory unique. Cafeteria and Recreation halls are amongst the best. The college has a very spacious auditorium, big play ground and an open-air theatre. The Central Library is located in the 2nd and 3rd floor of C wing which acquires huge volumes of books and National and International journals. The collection includes Textbooks, Atlases, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Technical Reports and has an excellent facility of E- Library with separate Departmental libraries as well. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports. There are three hostels, two for girls and one for boys. The girls hostel are called GH1 and GH2. The boys hostel is called SBH (Senior Boys Hostel). In addition to this there is one hostel in the Rajindra Hospital also for Doctors/Interns/House surgeons.

Rajindra Hospital, Patiala with 1009 beds was attached to the college in early 1951. The hospital was equipped with all the latest apparatus and instruments to make it fit for imparting clinical teaching to the students. The department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Medicine/Pulmonary Medicine is located in a separate campus, known as the Tuberculosis Centre, Patiala which started functioning on 25 July 1953 with 22 observation beds, 11 for male and 11 for female patients suffering from Tuberculosis. It is popularly known as TB Hospital or Padma Shri Dr. Khushdeva Singh Chest Diseases Hospital, and currently has a capacity of 121 beds. Primary health centres at Bhadson, Kauli and Tripuri are attached with this college for teaching purposes. Attached to the Rajindar Hospital was the female hospital (Lady Dufferin Hospital now known as Mata Kaushalya Hospital).
An advanced trauma centre with about 80,000 sq ft (7,400 m2) of covered area, about a 100-bed facility with services of General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Burns/plastic surgery, ICU, Rehab. unit, Lab. facility ( CT scan/ MRI, Radiology imaging / ultrasound, clinical path. and biochemistry labs etc.), complete with all associated inhouse services.

Nursing (only 08 Central Institutes).The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Testing Agency i.e. the NEET (UG) examination conducting body
There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States.

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Punjab will have to register themselves through Combined centralized counseling under the aegis of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. by filling out their application form. Punjab, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form for Punjab, MBBS / BDS admission. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1(online), Round 2(Physical Counseling), and Mop-up Round(Physical Counseling)). The fourth round being the College Round, if the number of vacant seats is x, then a 10x the list of registered candidates will be sent to the college and is to be exhausted strictly in order of merit.
