S.J.M. Dental College & Hospital, Chitradurga College was established in the academic year 1986. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka and recognized by Dental Council of Indiawith the annual intake of 60 seats in BDS and 2 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences. It is accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade and is located in the historical city of Chitradurga (with world famous Yelu Suthina Kote meaning a fort with seven circular walls) is one of the oldest Dental Colleges of the country and to its credit thousands of dental graduates has passed out of the institution.

The Dental college is located in a constructed area of 94000 sq.ft and a non-constructed area of 165247sqft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 150 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area with good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes with an excellent E-Library facility to benefit the students.State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately with staff quarters. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games.
