Admission Process

KEA – Karnataka Examination Authority conducts counselling MBBS NEETUG For Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) oversees the centralized online counseling process for the state of Karnataka. This process provides access to various seats, including government seats in government colleges, government seats in private colleges or private universities, management seats (others), and NRI seats in private colleges or private universities. The KEA conducts four rounds of counseling: the first round, second round, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round. The application form will be available in the UGNEET section at https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/ugneet24.

KEA – Karnataka Examination Authority conducts counseling for Government Medical College (85% seats and another 15% will be conducted by MCC), 100% seat allotment in Private Universities & Private Medical College ( includes Non-Minority, linguistic minority, and religious minority institutions), by KEA.

First Round :-

(IMPORTANT NOTE – KEA Doesn’t allow fresh option entry after the first round of results. In the second round, only reshuffling is allowed; no new entries can be made.

Second Round:-

  • No fresh registration for those candidate who have not registered in the first round
  • a. Choice-3 opted candidates in the first round and candidates entered the options in the first round and not allotted any seat in first round but willing to participate in the second round for UG medical seat 2024 should pay the Caution Deposit of Rs.1,00,000/- (One Lakh only) to become eligible to participate in the second round.
  • All category candidates should pay the caution deposit.
  • Choice-2 candidates of first round who have paid the fees need not pay the Caution Deposit.
  • Caution Deposit should be paid through online. DDs will not be accepted.
  • If a candidate gets the medical seat, the caution deposit paid by the candidate will be adjusted towards the fee
  • If a candidate gets the medical seat in the second round and fails to pay the balance fees or fails to report to the college, caution deposit paid by the candidate will be forfeited and the candidate has to pay the complete first-year fee to KEA as per rules
  • The fee paid at KEA for other courses, will not be considered as caution deposit.

“NOTE: People who got allotted in 1st & 2nd Round are not allowed to participate in the mop-up round “

Mop Up Round:

  • No Fresh Registration
  • Candidates who are willing to participate in the UGNEET 2024 Mop-up round should pay the course fee deposit as detailed below.
  • Candidates who have paid the Caution Deposit for the second round and did not get any medical seat should pay the medical course fee deposit after deducting the caution deposit amount(1lakhs).
  • If a candidate secures a medical seat in the mop-up round but fails to report to the college, take admission, or cancels the seat, the medical course fee deposit will be forfeited. The candidate must also pay a penalty and will be ineligible for future counseling, including All India Quota (AIQ).
  • Candidate has to pay the MEDICAL COURSE FEE DEPOSIT by downloading the Challan or through online mode
  • In 2022, option entry took place through offline counseling. In 2023, the process shifted to online counseling, requiring a caution deposit of 1 lakh for students to participate in the MOP-UP Round. For 2024, the caution deposit amounts are specified in the table below.

  • In 2022, the institutional mop-up round of counseling aimed to fill vacant seats remaining after the KEA mop-up. Colleges received a list of registered candidates for stray vacancies, which they had to fill in order of merit. Starting in 2023, the stray round will be conducted online mode only.
