About College

Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre, is a constituent college of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth accredited NAAC ‘A’ Grade and conferred with UGC category -I status. At the time of inception i.e, in 2002 the college was affiliated to Gujarat University. On 17th January 2007 Deemed University status was awarded to the University U/S 3 of UGC act of 1956. After that Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre is one of the constituent of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth. The College is recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC), India. It has an annual intake of 150 seats in MBBS, 137 seats in 20 disciplines of Postgraduate studies and 5 seats in 5 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies. 

The Medical College campus is spread over 65 acres with state of the art modern infrastructure with four storeyed building. There are very good spacious 6 gallery (air-conditioned) type technology infused lecture theatres in the college and 1 in the hospital each one with the seating capacity of 300. In addition, One gallery type centrally air-conditioned lecture theatre having seating  capacity 650 persons and fully equipped with audiovisual facilities is also available. The Pre and Para Clinical departments has 4 demonstration rooms ( total 32) with seating capacity of 60-75 students in each. These are used for small group teaching, tutorials, demonstrations etc. There are separate common rooms for boys and girls and an Examination hall which has a seating capacity of 1250. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and a gallery type Central air-conditioned Auditorium having a seating capacity of 500 persons with Audio-Visual facilities. Library and information center is located in a huge area with good collection of Medical Books of over 21818. Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are separate departmental libraries as well.  Separate hostels are available with capacity to accommodate undergraduate students (400 for boys and 594 girls to accommodate). In addition hostels for postgraduate students are available with 468 accommodation capacity and Flat type accommodation for 125 teachers in Residential quarters. A play ground for games like football, volley ball, cricket etc is available with necessary equipments and paraphernalia. Indoor games like table tennis, carom, chess etc are available in hostels and student common room. A fully equipped gymnasium is also available.

The Attached Hospital

Dhiraj hospital was established in year 2002 and at present has developed into 1065 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital with state of art facilities. It has 24X7 emergency and trauma care facility, Eye bank and blood bank facilities are available. There are very good latest technology induced clinical and diagnostic facilities like CT scan, MRI Scan, Ultrasound, and Digital X-rays. The institute has fully equipped modern 19 Operation Theatres, where major and minor surgeries are performed using the latest equipment and technology. The hospital has fully equipped Main ICU at 2nd floor, to provide ICU care. There are specialty ICUs/Centers: – 28 Beds ICU and ICCU, 6 Bed Pediatric ICU, 12 Bed Neonatal ICU, 6 Bed SICU, 2 Bed Obs. ICU, 4 Bed Respiratory ICU. 6 Bed Neuro  ICU , 4 Bed Uro ICU. There is a well established Radiotherapy Department with therapeutic services to both outpatients and indoor cancer patients. The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine. Super-Speciality departments include: Cardiology, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Facio Maxillary & Dialysis.

Admission Process

Admission of students to Government seats, Management seats, and NRI seats to the Professional Medical Educational Courses

 

The responsibility of the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses  (ACPUGMEC) is limited to the conduct of centralized counseling, which includes online registration, document verification, online/offline counseling procedure, seat allotment, and issue of admission order as per NEET-UG of the current academic year. The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) will have to register themselves for the ACPUGMEC  admission process by filling out their application form. Gujarat, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET.

 Candidates who will qualify NEET UG Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form for Gujarat, MBBS / BDS admission. Online information provided by candidates like name of the candidate, contact address details, category, PwD status, educational qualification details, date of birth, etc. during online submission of application form for NEET-UG of the current academic year will be treated as correct and ACPUGMEC will not entertain, under any circumstances, any request for change. ACPUGMEC disclaims any liability that may arise to the candidate(s) due to incorrect information provided by the candidate during the online registration process.

Conduct of Admissions-

There shall be only two Rounds  (Round 1 and Round 2 ) of common counseling, each conducted by the Admission Committee. Manual counseling for the allotment (Mop-Up (Offline) Round of Counseling) of students shall be conducted by the Admission Committee to ascertain the number of seats that still remain vacant after the two rounds of online counseling. A list of students in order of merit shall be prepared by the Admission Committee so that in case of any stray vacancy arising in any college, the said seat shall be filled up from the merit list.

Mop-Up (Offline) Round of Counseling

  1. All the candidates, including in the Merit-List of ACPUGMEC, can participate in the mop-up (offline) round of counseling, irrespective of the admission status of the candidate of the previous round (ACPUGMEC)
  2. It is mandatory for all the candidates, who want to participate in the mop-up (offline) round, to give ONLINE CONSENT for participation in the mop-up round.
  3. To participate in the mop-up round, the candidates have to log-in in the website http://medadmgujarat.org/ug/home.aspx using their User-ID and Password to give ONLINE CONSENT in prescribed time limit only
  4. The candidate can take part in the mop-up round without cancelling his admission to the previous rounds.
  5. The candidate has to remain present as per the merit rank on the allotted date, time at a selected place. Students are instructed to bring a copy of online consent at the time of offline counseling.

*The candidate applying for NRI Quota, document verification and submission will be done only at Office of ACPUGMEC, Ground Floor, GMERS Medical College, Civil Hospital Campus, Gandhinagar – 382016, Gujarat. They have to submit a Demand draft of Rs. 10,000/- (Non-Refundable) in favor of ‘ACPUGMEC’, payable at Gandhinagar as a processing fee at the Office of ACPUGMEC, GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar only at the time of document verification and submission. 

  • DOCUMENT VERIFICATION AT HELP CENTER: TO CONFIRM REGISTRATION

After completion of registration, take a print-out of the Registration details. The candidate has to take prior appointments for the Document Verification and Submission of photocopies of Documents at Help Center. The candidate, himself/herself, can select the Date, Time slot, and Help Center for Document Verification at the time of printing the Registration details. Visit the appointed help center with Original documents. Attach self-attested copies of required documents with Registration details and submit them to the Help Centers. The candidate has to get the ‘Registration Acknowledgement Slip’ duly signed by a nodal officer of the respective help center to complete his registration process

  • For Candidates Born Outside Gujarat - Domicile certificate issued by the authority empowered by the Government of Gujarat
  • For Scheduled Caste (SC) candidate - Certificate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) issued by the authority empowered by the Government of Gujarat on behalf
  • For Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidate - Certificate belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) issued by the authority empowered by the Government of Gujarat on that behalf….

  • PREPARATION AND PUBLICATION OF MERIT LIST 

After the registration process, ACPUGMEC will prepare and declare the merit list of all eligible candidates. The candidate needs to verify the merit number and category as mentioned in registration details. 

  • ONLINE CHOICE FILLING & ALLOTMENT OF ADMISSION
  1. After merit list declaration, the choice filling will be initiated online for each round. The mock round may be conducted before the actual first round of choice filling to create awareness regarding the online allotment process. Mock round allotment will not be considered as a true (actual) allotment. The actual first round will be conducted after the Mock round. Candidates can fill in fresh choices or modify their previously filled choices.
  2. Once the choice filling period is over, the ACPUGMEC will process for allotment of seats and declare the status of allotment on the website. The candidates can view their status of allotment by login in through their own User ID.
  •  PAYMENT OF TUITION FEES

The candidate has to pay the requisite amount of tuition fees of his allotted institute by cash/DD at any of the designated bank branches or through online payment within the time limit specified by the ACPUGMEC. 

  • ORIGINAL DOCUMENT SUBMISSION AT HELP CENTE
  1. The candidate has to submit the original documents (as per his category) along with the Allotment Letter of respective Rounds and Receipt of Payment of Tuition Fees at the appointed Help Center for confirmation of admission.
  2. The candidate, who fails to pay prescribed fees and submit original documents, his admission will not be granted under any circumstances
