Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad, is a Government College established in the Year 2008. The College is affiliated Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal, located in Telangana and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with an annual intake of 120 seats in MBBS and 8 seats in 2 disciplines of Postgraduate studies. The institute was established to improve the quality of healthcare in this backward area and make medical education accessible to all eligible students in the region. It is well-connected by road and rail routes. 

RIMS Adilabad was established in 53.5 acres of land side by NH–7 with a very good infrastructure. There are good spacious Classrooms, Lecture halls with a seating capacity of 150, Demonstration room & Examination Hall. Separate Hostel facility for Boys and Girls. Departmental museums are in place and there are good laboratory facilities. Central Library is having all the Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and includes Digital Library as well. Sports, Games and Recreational facilities are available.

RIMS Hospital was a secondary level care hospital i.e., District Hospital. It was located in Adilabad town. Now the daily out patient’s attendance has reached 1200. The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MBBS and BDS) seats to the NEETUG/BDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 15% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG /BDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (UG) examination conducting body 

Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the  documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC

Eligibility Condition:

Step Wise Counseling Process conducted by MCC

 There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2,  Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB,  are conducted by MCC  through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

  3. The candidate is not satisfied with the present allotment and wishes to participate in the next round of counselling. The previously allotted seat is forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate
  4. Not satisfied with MCC allotted seat and candidate has got seat elsewhere, so candidate is quitting and not to be considered for allotment of seats in any of the further rounds

Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota) KNR University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) 

Competent Authority Quota (CQ) includes seats in Government colleges and Government shares of seats in Private colleges.

  • 85% of Seats in Government colleges (after exclusion of 15 % seats transferred to All India Quota)
  • 50% of Seats in case of Private Un-aided Non-Minority and 60% of Minority Medical college and 50% in case of private Non-Minority Dental College
  • Nonlocal candidates are eligible for 15% unreserved seats only. The local candidates are also eligible for 15% unreserved seats along with 85% seats reserved for the local area.
  • 29% of the available seats for admission by the University for MBBS/ BDS shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Backward Classes as follows: · BC-A -7%, BC-B-10%, BC-C-1%, BC-D-7% & BC-E*-4%
  • 10% of total seats in specified Government Medical / Dental Colleges reserved for economically weaker section ( EWS ) Category
  • 33 1/3% of seats are guaranteed for women and candidates in each category
  • 15% seats shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, 6% of seats shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes in each local area.

  • Competent Authority Quota seats in Minority Medical Colleges will be allotted to Muslim Minority Candidates only. Muslim Minority Candidates are also eligible for Competent Authority Quota seats in other Medical Colleges.
  • 3% seats shall be reserved for differently-abled candidates in each Category
  • In respect of Statewide Institutions, admission into 85% of seats in each course Shall bé reserved for the candidates belonging to three local areas in the State specified in this sub-rule namely, Andhra University Area (Andhra), Osmania University Area (Telangana), and Sri Venkateswara University .area (Rayalaseema) In the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively and v the balance of 15% seats shall" be unreserved seats:

(A) '' The Local Areas '' means 

(a) The part of the State comprising the Districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad (Including Twin Cities) Rangareddy, Karimnagar, ’Khammam, Medak, Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, and Warangal shall be regarded as the Osmania University Local. Area (Telangana)

 (b) The part of the state comprising the District of Srikakulam Vizianagaram, Vishakapatnam, East \ Godavari, Wes Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, and Prakasham shall be regarded as the Andhra University Local area (Andhra) 

(c) The part of the State comprising the Districts of Ananthapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Çuddapph, and Nellore shall be regarded as the Sri Venkateswara University Local Area (Rayalaseéma)

(B) The Local Candidate: A candidate for admission shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to a local area. 

a) If he has studied in educational institutions in such a local area for a period of not less 4 than four consecutive academic years ending with the. The academic year in which he appeared or as the case may be first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination. 

b) Where during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or as the case may first appear for the relevant qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institutions, If he has resided in that local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of commencement of the relevant qualifying examination which he appeared or as the case may first appear.

Management Quota (MQ) KNR University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) 

50% of Seats in case of Private Un-aided Non-Minority and  40% Minority Medical College ( 85% of the seats under Management Quota Category B for MBBS/BDS Courses are reserved for local candidates from Telangana state in accordance with GO.Ms.No.130 HM&FW (C1) Department, Dated:27.09.2022. The remaining 15% of the seats are open to candidates from all over the country along with local candidates.)

 (b) Sub - Category - C. 15% NRI quota (NRI/NRI Sponsored) 

Candidates from all the States and Union territories of India are eligible.

* In Un-aided Muslim Minority Medical Colleges, seats are reserved for Muslim Minority Candidates only. In case Muslim Minority Candidates are not available, then the seats may be filled up with Non-minority students up to a maximum of 30% during the final phase of counseling.

*Foreign Students / NRI candidates are eligible for admission into MBBS and BDS Courses under Management Quota Category – C Seats. Candidates should specifically put the option for NRI Category in the online application to be considered for NRI / C-Category

Web Allotment for Phase 1 The selected candidates shall download the allotment letter from the website after payment of the University fee by gateway method by using the Online payment method. ( Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking).

*The University fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances

Reporting at the Allotted College -Candidate has to take a printout of allotment order, check their allotment, and report to the Principal of respective college before the last date specified on the allotment letter. 

* verification of original certificates will be conducted at the college of admission and in case of any discrepancy, the provisional allotment will be canceled and action may be initiated as per University regulations.
