Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), established on 15 August 2002 by upgrading the then Rajendra Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) originally setup in 1960, is a medical institute of in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, India. The college is an autonomous body established under an act of Jharkhand Assembly. The College is affiliated to Ranchi University, located in Jharkhand and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC). It has an annual intake of 180 MBBS seats, 176 seats in 21 disciplines of Post-Graduate studies and 9 seats in 3 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies. It is well-connected by Road and Rail route. 

The Medical College campus and the Teaching Hospital are located in a sprawling over an area of 216 acres which houses the main buildings of Medical College, New Civil Hospital, Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital, hostels for students and residential quarters for different categories of staff. There are very good spacious Classrooms, Lecture halls, Examination halls & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories and Departmental Museums. There are two Auditoriums in the Campus, one being a Multipurpose Auditorium which hosts a number of seminars, functions and competitions. The Mini Auditorium serves as lecture theatre as well as a venue for small events and meetings. Library and information center is located in a huge area of 2400sqmts with good collection of Medical Books of over 86000, 981 Indian & 2166 Foreign Journals and around 2000 Research papers with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports which includes a stadium built newly which houses for 1000 spectators at a time. For the nature lovers, there are well maintained, lush green parks having a variety of Trees and shrubs, which are a delight to watch especially during the season of spring. The major parks are The Rajendra Park, Major Sankalp park, Sanjeevni park, Albert Ekka Park, Swami Vivekananda Park and the RIMS Circle. Separate Hostel facilities for Boys and Girls.

The RIMS hospital is a 1500 bedded Multi-Speciality Hospital with Advanced Diagnostic Tools. There is Oncology centre with the latest Radiation Machinery, a 100 seated Dental College. The college also has a 14 bedded Trauma centre, the first of its kind in Eastern India. Under PMSSY scheme, a 240 bedded Super Specialty Hospital Oncology, Cardiology, Urology and Paediatric Surgery Related Diseases will be dealt with all modern facilities. 24X7 emergency and trauma care facility, Eye bank and blood bank facilities are available. There are very good clinical and diagnostic facilities in the Hospital. The hospital sees huge number of footfalls everyday and IP admissions. It has well equipped Operation Theatres and ICU's. The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine.     The MCC/DGHS will be doing Counseling for 15% AIQ, 100% Deemed Universities, Central Universities (Delhi University, AMU & BHU including Institutional/ Domicile Quota), ESIC, AFMC(only Registration Part) &I.P University (VMMC & SJH AND ABVIMS & RML& ESIC Dental, Delhi (15% AIQ + 85% Institutional Quota ) 100% AIIMS, 100% JIPMER and B.Sc. Nursing (only 08 Central Institutes).The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Testing Agency i.e. the NEET (UG) examination conducting body

     There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States. 

    Reservation Policy for 15% All India Quota seats: 

    The Reservation Policy of the Central Government for the NEET-UG Counselling in All India Quota is as follows:

    S.C.- 15% 

    S.T.- 7.5% 

    O.B.C.- (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list- 27%

     EWS- as per Central Government norms- 10%

     PwD- Horizontal Reservation as per NMC norms- 5%

    NOTE:- Reservation of seats under PWD Category is 5% in AIQ & as per NMC norms (Gazette Notification no. MCI-34(41)/2018-Med./170045 dated 04/02/2019). For range of disabilities included, please see Annexure ‘1’.

    Who registered in Round-2 & exited with Forfeiture of fees without joining can register again with payment of fees. However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission upto Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/DNB will not be eligible to participate in Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. (Those who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round-1 & Round-2 need not register again).
