About College

The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, is a Government College established in the Year 2008. It is an Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India in 1987 and declared as "Centre of excellence" by the parliament of India. The College is affiliated with North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, located in Meghalaya and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC). The Medical College has an annual intake of  50 MBBS seats, 33 seats in 14 Departments of Post-Graduate studies, and 2 seats among the 1 Super-Speciality studies. The institute is established on the lines of AIIMS, Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh, to provide tertiary care to the people of North-East India.

The campus at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong is spread over a lush green area measuring about 273 acres in a hilly terrain, on the outskirts of Shillong. There are very good spacious modern galley type Lecture halls, Examination halls & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and Auditorium. The Central Library is a three Storied Building with a seating capacity of 250+ Readers with a separate reading area for the Faculty. There are huge collection of Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals back volumes and a Digital Library. Separate hostels for both boys and girls, Nurses hostel, Quarters for professors and teachers along with a Guest House with 12 rooms. An indoor stadium for daily recreation and sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton is available in addition to a tennis court and a swimming pool are also available within the campus.

  • Admission Process

    North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) conducts the admission to 50 NEIGRIHMS MBBS seats. NEIGRIHMS MBBS 2021 admission will be granted on the basis of scores obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - NEET exam. The authorities will release the application form of NEIGRIHMS in the online mode.

     ELIGIBILITY FOR OF THE CANDIDATES:

    1. The Applicant must be a permanent resident/Domicile of one of the 8 (eight)North-eastern states of India including Sikkim.
    2. The Applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the preceding two years.
    3. He/ She should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S.
    4. The applicant should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
    • The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training
    • The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany and Zoology) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology ( Botany & Zoology) in the qualifying examination.
    • He/ She must have appeared in the NEET-UG and have qualified for admission to the MBBS course in any Indian University/ Institute.

    SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM:

    1. Duly filled up application forms can be placed in an envelope (SUPERSCRIBING “Application for MBBS Admission) and dropped in at the Box placed outside the Examination Cell, Director’s Block, NEIGRIHMS
    2. Forms can also be sent by post (SPEED POST only) addressed to “Examination Cell, NEIGRIHMS, Director’s Block, P.O. – Mawdiangdiang, Shillong – 793018” . *If there is any delay in the Postal Delivery, the Institute will not be responsible.
    • NOTE: Applications submitted without the Paid Challan/Supporting Documents/after the last date shall be summarily rejected.

    Important:

    1. The Institute will not be responsible for faulty communication due to the incorrect address given by the applicant in the Application Form.
    2. An incomplete Application Form will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
    3. If the ineligibility of a candidate is detected at any stage, before or after the admission, his/her candidature will be summarily rejected.
    4. In case any candidate is found to have furnished false information or certificate etc. or is found to have withheld or concealed any material information in his/her application, he/she will be debarred from admission.

    DOCUMENTS TO BE ENCLOSED:

    Documents to be submitted along with the Application form are mentioned below:

    1. One recent passport size photograph ( To be attached in the place given in the Application Form)
    2. Domicile/Permanent Residential Certificate valid for the year, from the competent authority (i.e. DistrictCommissioner of the state or any Government authorized Official) certifying that he/she is Domicile/Permanent resident of either of the 8 (eight) Northeastern states of India including Sikkim
    3. Age proof: High School Certificate / Secondary School Certificate / Admit Card of 10th or 10+2  Exams issued by the Board / University showing the date of birth / Birth Certificate of the applicant issued by the competent Government authority.
    4. Certificates: Pass Certificate / Provisional Pass Certificate where the candidate has already cleared the qualifying examination.
    5. Mark Sheets: Clearly readable mark sheet of the 10+2 examination showing the marks secured by the applicants.
    6. NEET-UG Admit card.
    7. NEET-UG Score Card containing the all India Rank and percentile of marks obtained in NEET-UG. Copy of Original Challan(NEIGRIHMS’ Copy) as proof of deposited fee of `500/-

    COUNSELING:

    1. A list of candidates called for counselling along with a waiting list (if any) will be placed on the official website: www.neigrihms.gov.in. It is the responsibility of the candidate to find out the date of counselling from Institute Website, no individual call letter will be sent.
    2. Candidates listed for counselling and selected for admission shall have to attend and medical examination at the Institute at their own cost on the notified date.
    3. At the time of counselling, candidates will have to attend in person and produce the original of the following documents
    4. Domicile/ PermanentResidential Certificate valid for the year , from the competent authority(i.e. District Commissioner of the state or any Government authorized Official) proving that he/she is Domicile /Permanent resident of either of the 8 (eight) North-Eastern states of India including Sikkim.

    Admission will not be finalized unless the candidates produce all the original documents.

    1. There will be no allocation of marks for the counselling. Counselling will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit in the NEET UG -20 score and percentile.
    2. Candidates found medically fit are required to pay the admission fee in full.
    3. To fill vacancies arising due to failure of appearance by the selected candidates, a sufficient number of candidates from the waiting list will also be called for 2nd counselling. Such candidates will have to appear for the 2nd and/or 3rd counselling on the notified date at their own cost.
    4. Candidates who fail to attend counselling/medical examination on the notified date shall forfeit their claim for admission and placement in the waiting list.
    5. Candidates who have been admitted must join their classes on the date of commencement of the classes. The Selection/Admission is liable to be cancelled if the selected candidate does not report to join the class on the stipulated date without prior permission.

    • The above fees are subject to revision at the discretion of the Government of India and candidates are required to pay such annual fees as may be prescribed by the Government of India from time to time.
    • The annual fees during the second and subsequent years will be collected from 1st August to 14th August every year. An extension of 15 days will be given beyond the 14th of August to pay the fees with a penalty. In case a   student fails to remit the tuition fees on or before the closure of the last date prescribed without proper prior permission, his/her name will be struck off from the rolls and attendance will not be given.
