The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, also known as MCODS, was established in 1965 and received accreditation by the Dental Council of India in 1970. It was India's first private dental college and 14th dental college. It has international collaborations with esteemed institutions and industries across the globe to promote the exchange of students, faculty and collaborative research activities. These collaborations encourage student exchange programs, observership, and preceptorship with the partnered institute to enhance their learning experience. The College is affiliated to the Manipal Uinversity, Manipal and recognized by Dental Council of Indiawith the annual intake of 100 seats in BDS and 38 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences.
It is a constituent college of Manipal University. MCODS, Manipal, has several peripheral clinics that include centers at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi; dental clinics at Hebri and Saligrama, Sharada Residential School, Udupi; Besides these, the mobile dental unit caters to the dental treatment needs of patients in and around Udupi. The Manipal College of Dental Sciences was ranked 1st among dental colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2021 and 2nd in the year 2020.
The Dental college is located with a lush green campus and having a world class infrastructure with dedicated constructed area of 127270 sq.ft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 340 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with a large greenboard and full audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall with a seating capacity of 250 students at a time and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area with good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes. There is an excellent E-Library facility as well to benefit the students.State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately with staff quarters. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games. It is attached with the Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal for clinical practice.

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Under Graduate (MBBS/BDS and B.sc. Nursing) seats to the NEET UG/BDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 15% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG/BDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of the MCC of DGHS is limited to the allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from the National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (UG) examination conducting body
Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats. The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the documents as and when the same is called for by the MCC.
Eligibility Condition:
There are four rounds of counseling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round & Stray Vacancy Round. Out of the four rounds for Deemed Universities, 03 rounds are conducted online by MCC i.e. Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-Up Round. The Stray Vacancy round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit
