Government Dental College, Srinagar is one of the reputed Govt. Dental Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. The college is popularly known as GDC Srinagar and was founded in the year 1985-86. The college is affiliated with University of Kashmir, Sri Nagar and recognized by Dental Council of India and Govt of India with the annual intake of 63 seats in BDS and 36 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences.

The Dental college is located in a constructed area of 256598.12 sqft and a non-constructed area of 21460.08 sqft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 377 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area with good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes with an excellent E-Library facility to benefit the students. State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately with staff quarters. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games. It is attached with the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital, Srinagar for clinical practice.

Admission Process

Government Dental College, Srinagar Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in Jammu And Kashmir

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission 2020 at Jammu And Kashmir will have to register themselves for the Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE) www.jkbopee.gov.in in admission section for admission process by filling out their application form. Jammu And Kashmir, MBBS/BDS admission 2020 is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form of Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE) – 2020 MBBS / BDS 2020 admission. Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE) – 2020 counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds (Personal Counselling)). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling

Eligibility For Admission
1. Qualification:

  • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR & 40% for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Those who have qualified NEET 2020 by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET2020 counseling rounds
  • The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course..

Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota)

Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

  • Government seats are available in all the Govt. and Aided Colleges.
  • A candidate mustbe a permanent resident of J&K State as defined in section 6 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir
  • The candidates applying under P&B (Poor and Backward)category are open merit candidates. They must fulfill
  • 50% seats in MBBS/BDS will be reserved for females as per the Government rules on the basis of NEET scoring marks for academic session in accordance with section 9 of the J&K Reservation Act, 2004

Where this certificate is wrongly accepted and candidate gets admission on the basis of such a certificate, admission of such candidate will be cancelled as and when this mistake/ fraud comes in notice of Board.

Management Quota

  • The following BDS seats are available in IDS and shall be filled up accordingly:-

1. Government seats (OM) = 40

2. Management Quota seats = 50

3. NRI seats = 10

  • In order to fill up Management/NRI seats the following shall be the eligibility criteria:-

Category No. 1:- Where applicant himself/herself is NRI and family originally belongs to

J&K State.

Category No. 2:- Children/wards of NRI who originally belong to State of J&K.
