The Government Medical College, Ernakulam previously known as Cochin Medical College is situated at Kalamassery, Kochi. It is a government-owned institution established by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education under the Department of Co-operation, Govt. of Kerala, established in the year 1999-2000. It is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC). It has an annual intake of 110 seats in MBBS and 11 seats in 5 disciplines of Post-Graduate studies.
The college spreads in a vast area of around 60 acres at Kalamassery in the outskirts of the city. CMC have five well furnished and spacious Lecture Halls each with a seating capacity of more than 100 and all equipped with latest Audio-visual equipment like OHPs, LCD projectors, Computers, Micro phones etc. Seminar Halls for each department available. The Auditorium is well furnished with a seating capacity of 400. Specially built Exam hall for 200 students. Demonstration rooms and research rooms for each department also present with All department having their own Libraries and laboratories with latest equipments. In addition, Ernakulam District Co-Operative Bank and its ATM is placed within the campus, many banks with ATM facilities are present within walking distance from the college. A well equipped gym and other facilities for indoor and outdoor games are provided within the campus. The central library has a floor space of 1600 sq.m. functioning in two floors. There are 7220 books in the library and with more than 100 foreign journals, back volumes, Atlases, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Technical Reports. There are separate Reading rooms and the E- library has good Internet facility. The college has pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical disciplines. Separate Hostel facilities for Boys and Girls with spacious rooms and good mess facility. Campus has a Well functioning cafeteria Gymnasium,Library, Football stadium, Basketball court, Volleyball Court and Indoor badminton courts.

It has a 700 bedded tertiary care Hospital with 24 hour Casualty, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Paediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Major & Minor operation theatres. There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States.

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Kerala will have to register themselves for the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations KEAM in the admission section for the admission process by filling out their application form. Kerala, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form for KEAM MBBS / BDS admission. KEAM counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling

Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges: Fifteen percent of the total sanctioned seats in MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges in the State are set apart for the allotment of the candidates by the Director-General of Health Services, Government of India on the basis of the rank obtained in the NEET-UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi.
Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical colleges:- Fifteen percent of the seats for the admission of students to MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical Colleges in Kerala are set apart for the allotment of candidates irrespective of their Domicile as per the rank obtained in the NEET-UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) New Delhi.
