The Government Medical College, Anantnag, is a Government College established in the Year 2019. TThe college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC)  and is affiliated with the University of Kashmir. Government Medical College, Srinagar offers 100 seats in MBBS. The hospital associated with the college is one of the largest hospitals in the Anantnag. It is associated with the District Hospital Anantnag, (MMABH).The departments, classrooms, library, and laboratories are housed in airy, bright, and well-ventilated buildings.GMC Anantnag has a separate central library having seating arrangement of 50 students and has approximately 4000 books. Government Medical College, Anantnag are built on a 12 acres having hostel facility within the perimeter.

Admission Process

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Jammu And Kashmir

 The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at  Jammu And Kashmir will have to register themselves for the  Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE)  admission section for the admission process by filling out their application form. Jammu And Kashmir, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form of Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE)  –  MBBS / BDS  admission. Jammu And Kashmir (BOPEE)  –  counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds (Personal Counselling)). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling.

Eligibility For Admission
1. Qualification:

  • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR &  40% for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Those who have qualified NEET  by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th  percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET counseling rounds
  • The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
  • Jammu & Kashmir candidates will not be eligible for the 15% all India quota seats as Jammu & Kashmir Board has opted out from NEET national level counseling

Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota)

Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

  • Government seats are available in all the Govt. and Aided Colleges.
  • A candidate must be a permanent resident of J&K State as defined in section 6 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir
  • The candidates applying under P&B (Poor and Backward) category are open merit candidates. They must fulfill
  • 50% seats in MBBS/BDS will be reserved for females as per the Government rules on the basis of NEET scoring marks for academic session in accordance with section 9 of the J&K Reservation Act, 2004

*  Candidate having a certificate that his/her father is working in Defense Establishment (Military Engineering Service, paramilitary force or other services of like nature) where salary is paid out from Defense Estimates is not entitled to benefit of CDP Category. Where this certificate is wrongly accepted and the candidate gets admission on the basis of such a certificate, admission of such candidate will be cancelled as and when this mistake/ fraud comes in the notice of Board. 

Management Quota

  • All seats in ASCOMS falling under Management Quota and NRI shall be filled up by the BOPEE.

 The following MBBS seats are available in ASCOMS and shall be filled accordingly:- 

  • Government seats (OM) = 40
  • Management (OM)   = 15
  • Poor & Backward seats (P&B) = 10
  • Management Quota seats (HM) = 25
  • NRI seats (NRI)   = 10

In order to fill up Management/NRI seats the following shall be the eligibility criteria:- 

  • Category No. 1:- Where applicant himself/herself is NRI and family originally belongs to J&K State.
  • Category No. 2:- Children/wards of NRI who originally belong to State of J&K.
