The Govt. Dental College, Alappuzha, is the fourth Government Dental college Established in the year of 2014. The College is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences and recognized by  Dental Council of India  with the annual intake of 50 seats in BDS.

The Dental college is located in a constructed area of 84779 sq.ft and a non-constructed area of 82558 sqft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 106 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area with good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes with an excellent E-Library facility to benefit the students. State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games. It is attached with the T.D Medical College, Alappuzha for clinical practice.

    Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Kerala

    The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission 2020 at Kerala a. will have to register themselves for the KEAM – 2020 www.cee.kerala.gov.in. in admission section for admission process by filling out their application form. Kerala, MBBS/BDS admission 2020 is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form of KEAM – 2020 MBBS / BDS 2020 admission. KEAM – 2020 counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling

    Eligibility For Admission
    1. Qualification:

    • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR &  40% for SC/ST/OBC.
    • Those who have qualified NEET 2020 by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th  percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET2020 counseling rounds
    • The candidates must be of 17 years of age as on 31.12.2019 and there will be no upper age limit.

    Government Seats (State Quota)

    Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

    • Government seats are available in all the Govt. and Aided Colleges.
    • The availability of Government seats in Self-financing Colleges run by institutions under Govt. control and Private Self-financing colleges will be notified separately. Those candidates who seek admission in Private Self-financing colleges are bound to accept the conditions stipulated in the agreement between Government and Self-financing College Management(s) and deemed to have accepted such conditions.
    • Management Seats: The seats set apart in the Aided institutions, to be filled up by the Managements concerned are called Management Seats.
    • Categorization of Seats in Self-Financing Institutions: The categorization of seats in Self-financing Colleges run by institutions under Govt. control and other Private Self-financing colleges will be notified separately. “As per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated: 09.05.2017 on WP(C) No. 267/2017, the allotments/admissions to the State Quota seats in all the Government as well as Private Self Financing Medical and Dental colleges shall be done through a Common Counseling to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. The Common Counseling will include NRI seats in Self Financing Medical & Dental Colleges and Minority Community Quota seats in Private Self Financing Medical & Dental Colleges having Minority Status.”

    Reservation Of Seats

    Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges: Fifteen percent of the total sanctioned seats in MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges in the State are set apart for the allotment of the candidates by the Director General of Health Services, Government of India on the basis of the rank obtained in the NEET-UG 2020 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi.

    • Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical colleges:- Fifteen percent of the seats for the admission of students to MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical Colleges in Kerala are set apart for the allotment of candidates irrespective of their Domicile as per the rank obtained in the NEET-UG 2020 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) New Delhi.
    • Mandatory Reservation

    The Government seats for each course in Govt./Aided/KAU/KVASU/KUFOS Colleges will be distributed as per the mandatory reservation principle as contemplated in G.O. (P) 208/66/Edn. Dated 2.5.1966, G.O.(Ms)No.95/08/SCSTDD Dated 06.10.2008, GO(Ms) No. 10/2014/BCDD Dated 23.05.2014 and as modified from time to time. The percentage break-up of seats as per mandatory reservation is as follows:

    (A) State Merit (SM) - 60% 

    (B) Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) - 30% 

    a. Ezhava (EZ) - 9% 

    b. Muslim (MU) - 8%

     c. Other Backward Hindu (BH) - 3% 

    d. Latin Catholic and Anglo Indian (LA) - 3% 

    e. Dheevara and related communities (DV) - 2% 

    f. Viswakarma and related communities (VK) - 2% 

    g. Kusavan and related communities (KN) - 1% 

    h. Other Backward Christian (BX) - 1%

     i. Kudumbi (KU) - 1% 

    (C) Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes - 10% 

    a. Scheduled Castes (SC) - 8% 

    b. Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 2%

    Note:

    1) As per GO(Ms) No. 46/2015/SCSTDD dated: 23.06.2015, the reservation pattern in Govt. Medical College, Palakkad (Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences, Palakkad) will be as follows: Scheduled Caste - 70%, Scheduled Tribe - 2%, General Merit – 13% and All India Quota- 15%. 

    2) As per GO(Rt.)No. 1621/2017/H&FWD dated 08.06.2017, The reservation pattern in Government Medical College, Kollam will be as follows: State Quota-50%, Wards of Insured Persons under Employees State Insurance Corporation-35% (Not allotted by CEE), All India Quota-15%.

    • 10% of total seats in specified Government Medical / Dental Colleges reserved for economically weaker section ( EWS ) Category
