The Government Medical College & Hospital (Renamed as Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital), Balasore is a Government College established in the Year 2018. The College is affiliated to Fakir Mohan Univeristy, Balasore, located in Orissa and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with an annual intake of 100 MBBS seats. 

The college is situated in a sprawling area of 22.68 acres at a distance of 6 kms away from it within the township of Balasore and the hospital is spread in an area of 21 acres. There are very good spacious gallery type Lecture halls in the college and in the hospital. There are Examination halls & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and Auditorium. Library and information center is located in a huge area with good collection of Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports with volleyball and badminton facilities.

The hospital associated with the college is one of the largest hospitals in the Balasore district. The hospital had 360 beds with service facility of all the regular clinical departments along with ICU, SNCU, PICU and separate OPDs for each departments.  24X7 emergency and trauma care facility, Eye bank and blood bank facilities are available. There are very good clinical and diagnostic facilities in the Hospital. The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine.

Admission Process

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Odisha

 The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission 2020 at Odisha. will have to register themselves for the DMET(O) www.dmetodisha.gov. in admission section for admission process by filling out their application form. West Bengal, MBBS/BDS admission 2020 is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form of DMET(O) MBBS / BDS 2020 admission. DMET(O)  counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling

Eligibility For Admission
1. Qualification:

  • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR &  40% for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Those who have qualified NEET 2020 by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th  percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET2020 counseling rounds
  • The candidates must be of 17 years of age as on 31.12.2019 and there will be no upper age limit.

Government Seats (State Quota)

Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

  • 85% of Seats in Government colleges (after exclusion of 15 % seats transferred to All India Quota)
  • The reservation policy of State Government will be followed for selection, and shall be Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 12%, Scheduled Caste (SC) - 8%, Physically Challenged (PC) - 5% of each category, Ex-Servicemen (ES) - 3% and Green Card Holders (GC) - 5%. (Any other reservation category, if notified by Govt., shall also be applicable)
  • Candidates claiming reservation under Green Card must be permanent natives of Odisha and shall have to produce original green cards of their parents issued by Government of Odisha only. They must not have taken the privilege of it before. The date of birth & name in the card must match exactly with that in HSC certificate. In case of mismatch, the candidates will be considered in GE category only. Tampered or mutilated green cards are not acceptable.
  • The ST/SC seats are not interchangeable.
  • The candidates must be permanent native of Odisha.
  • Since there is no OBC category in the State, such candidates will be considered in General Category and the minimum qualifying marks shall be (40 th percentile) in the NEET UG 2019.
  • 10% of total seats in specified Government Medical / Dental Colleges reserved for economically weaker section ( EWS ) Category
  • The order of counseling in spot round of counseling shall be Scheduled Tribe (ST) – Scheduled Caste (SC) – Physically Challenged (PC) – Ex Servicemen (ES) – Green Card (GC) – General (GEN).
  • Any seat of private institutions that remains unfilled after the spot round counseling shall be surrendered to the respective institutions for counseling and admission from the NEET UG 2019 merit list

Management Quota

The NRI seats shall be filled up in the following order by OJEE / Institution: 

  1. By eligible NRI candidates of state domicile.
  2. By eligible NRI candidates of outside states.
  3. By eligible UR candidates of the state if seats still remain unfilled.
