The Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur a Trust established in the Year 2002. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC)   and is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. The college offers 100 seats in MBBS, Postgraduate Courses in 18 departments, and a Super Specialty course in 3 departments. Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is a Christian Minority Co-Education College helping all the students of the Minority community from Kerala and other states across India to get admission into Medicine. All the Lecture Theatres  Lecture Hall No. I (Capacity: 150), Lecture Hall No. II (Capacity: 250), Lecture Hall No. III (Capacity: 150), Lecture Hall No. IV (Capacity: 200), Seminar Hall (Capacity: 200)are equipped with audio-visual aids.  Central Library of the Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is open to all students and staff. Examination Hall Centrally Air-Conditioned Examination hall, with seating capacity for 110 students, well equipped with CCTV.

The College has separate hostels for girls and boys with round-the-clock security arrangements. Hostel in "Chavara" Building accommodates 270 Boys in total. 150 Girls accommodated in the "Matha" Building, 236 Girls accommodated in the "Devamatha" Building and 80 Girls can be accommodated in the "Devamatha Annexe", making a total accommodation capacity of 466 Girls.

 Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is situated in the slopes of the Vilangan Hills, spreading over a 40-acre sprawling and serene campus, accessible 24 hours a day, by road. There are enough facilities for co-curricular activities by students, like the Sports Club, Arts Club, Fitness Club, etc..There are separate playgrounds on the campus for Football, Basketball. The campus accommodates a well-equipped Gymnasium fitness center for Boys and Girls.

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Hospital is a 1,000 bed Super Specialty teaching Hospital and  Cardiac Center attached college. Extensive facilities comprising 25 modern operating theatres, 210 equipped intensive-care beds.Clinical board’s general specialties viz. Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, and Radiology three paraclinical departments viz. Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry are working in the Hospital. In addition to the basic clinical specialties, NICU, PICU, OICU, Paediatric Nephrology including dialysis, Arthroscopy, and GI Endoscopy are some of the specialized tertiary level services rendered in the hospital. A full-fledged diagnostic setup with round a clock central laboratory capable of performing all tests. Ultramodern imaging facilities under the department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging with X-ray, Ultrasound, Doppler, CT Scan MRI Scan The hospital provides excellent training opportunities to the students of the institution.

Admission Process

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Counseling is conducted by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations KEAM

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Kerala will have to register themselves for the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations KEAM  in the admission section for the admission process by filling out their application form. Kerala, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Exam and meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form for KEAM  MBBS / BDS admission. KEAM  counseling is conducted in Three Round (Round 1, Round 2, and Subsequent MOP UP rounds). Seat selection for Government Seats and for Management quota seats will be through web counseling

Eligibility For Admission into Commissioner for Entrance Examinations KEAM
1. Qualification:

  • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR &  40% for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Those who have qualified NEET by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th  percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET counseling rounds
  • AGE: A student must have completed an age of 17 years at the time of admission under NEET eligibility or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

Government Seats (State Quota)  Commissioner for Entrance Examinations KEAM

Means and includes seats in Government colleges and Government share of seats in Private colleges.

  • Government seats are available in all the Govt. and Aided Colleges.
  • The availability of Government seats in Self-financing Colleges run by institutions under Govt. control and Private Self-financing colleges will be notified separately. Those candidates who seek admission in Private Self-financing colleges are bound to accept the conditions stipulated in the agreement between Government and Self-financing College Management(s) and deemed to have accepted such conditions.
  • Management Seats: The seats set apart in the Aided institutions, to be filled up by the Managements concerned are called Management Seats.
  • Categorization of Seats in Self-Financing Institutions: The categorization of seats in Self-financing Colleges run by institutions under Govt. control and other Private Self-financing colleges will be notified separately. “As per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated: 09.05.2017 on WP(C) No. 267/2017, the allotments/admissions to the State Quota seats in all the Government as well as Private Self Financing Medical and Dental colleges shall be done through a Common Counseling to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. The Common Counseling will include NRI seats in Self Financing Medical & Dental Colleges and Minority Community Quota seats in Private Self Financing Medical & Dental Colleges having Minority Status.”

Reservation Of Seats

Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges: Fifteen percent of the total sanctioned seats in MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges in the State are set apart for the allotment of the candidates by the Director-General of Health Services, Government of India on the basis of the rank obtained in the NEET-UG  conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi.

Reservation for All India Quota for MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical colleges:- Fifteen percent of the seats for the admission of students to MBBS Courses in Self-Financing Medical Colleges in Kerala are set apart for the allotment of candidates irrespective of their Domicile as per the rank obtained in the NEET-UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) New Delhi.

Mandatory Reservation The Government seats for each course in Govt./Aided/KAU/KVASU/KUFOS Colleges will be distributed as per the mandatory reservation principle as contemplated in G.O. (P) 208/66/Edn. Dated 2.5.1966, G.O.(Ms)No.95/08/SCSTDD Dated 06.10.2008, GO(Ms) No. 10/2014/BCDD Dated 23.05.2014 and as modified from time to time. The percentage break-up of seats as per mandatory reservation is as follows:
