SDM College of Medical Sciences is situated at Manjusreenagar in Dharwad, Karnataka. The college was established in the year 2003. It is a brainchild of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Rev. President of SDM Educational Society. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated to Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (Private University), Dharwad, Karnataka.
SDM College of Medical Sciences is undoubtedly one of the best medical colleges in Karnataka. SDM College of Medical Sciences is spread over spacious 52-acre land of serene surroundings, is an ideal atmosphere for the best medical education. The entire campus boasts of hygiene and cleanliness in its every face and is plastic-free with a 24/7 generator power backup.
The SDM College of Medical Sciences offers 100 seats in MBBS and 96 seats in 22 disciplines of Postgraduate studies. It’s among the best 5 medical institutes in Karnataka and 30 among the best colleges in India.
SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital Central Library is housed on the ground floor of the college building with an area of 1602 sq. meters, the library is located in the center of the campus and is easily accessible to the academic departments, classrooms, hospital, and student hostels. The Library is well designed by expert architects and known for its functionality, ambiance, and aesthetics.
Both the men’s and the women’s hostels are WiFi-enabled buildings with airy generous interiors and have round-the-clock electricity and water facilities. Hostel and Mess serve only Pure vegetarian food.
The city is well connected by railways, road, and air respectively. Dharwad –Hubli is a twin city that has its an airport located around 125 min (15.9 km) away. Major flights from different domestic areas serve on a daily basis. Direct and regular buses from different parts of Karnataka and nearby states operate frequently for Dharwad.

SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital
SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital has 1400 beds, 18 operation theatres, 120 ICU beds in the hospital, and with 80 to 90% occupancy. It provides an excellent range of clinical experience to undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) students and researchers. The hospital provides excellent training opportunities to the students of the institution. The hospital has a motto of providing quality treatment and healthcare at an affordable cost.
Clinical board’s general specialties viz. Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology and Radiology, and three paraclinical departments viz. Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry are working in the SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital.
SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital’s new Super-specialty Block with a built-up area of 3,50,000 sq ft is has a provision for 400 inpatients beds including special and deluxe rooms. 8 ultramodern operation theatres with laminar flow and Hepa filters, which can perform complex heart surgeries, joint replacement surgeries, cancer surgeries, including kidney & heart transplant surgeries, Cath Labs – 2 Nos, and 90 State-of-the-art ICU beds.

KEA – Karnataka Examination Authority conducts counselling MBBS NEETUG For SDM College of Medical Sciences (Private university)
Karnataka Examination Authority is the centralized online counselling process for the state Karnataka, which allows (Government seat in Government college ,Government seat in private college/private university and Management(others) seat, NRI seats in private colleges/private universities) through KEA counselling where KEA conducts in 4 rounds, 1st round, 2nd round, Mop-up round and stray vacancy round. KEA – Karnataka Examination Authority conducts counseling for Government Medical College (85% seats and another 15% will be conducted by MCC), 100% seat allotment in Private Universities & Private Medical College ( includes Non-Minority, linguistic minority, and religious minority institutions), by KEA.

- In 2022, the institutional mop-up round of counseling will fill the vacant seats or remain unfilled seats after a mop-up round of KEA counseling. This round is conducted by colleges to fill the left-over seats. A list of the registered candidates' names for stray vacancies will be sent to private colleges to be exhausted strictly in order of merit.
