HKES S Nijalingappa Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Gulbarga was established in 1986-87. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka and recognized by Dental Council of Indiawith the annual intake of 100 seats in BDS and 45 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences.

The Dental college is situated in a four storied building located in 7 acres of land on Sedam Road. The Dental college is located in a constructed area of 121930 sq.ft and a non-constructed area of 2026997 sqft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 270 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area with good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes with an excellent E-Library facility to benefit the students.State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately with staff quarters. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games. It is attached with the HKES Basaweshwara Teaching and General Hospitalfor clinical practice.
