The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMS), Pondicherry is run by a Trustand was established in the Year 2000. The PIMS is a unit of The Madras Medical Mission, a charitable society and hospital in Chennai promoted by the members of the Malankara Orthodox Christian community. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated with Pondicherry University. Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMS) offers 150 seats in MBBS, 64 seats in 20 disciplines of Postgraduate Courses and 1 seat in 1 stream of Super-Specialty course.

The Medical College and Hospital is spread in an area of over 32acres with state of the art infrastructure. Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMS) ADMISSIONTO UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL COURSES(NEETBASED) IN THE U.T. OF PUDUCHERRYM.B.B.S.,B.D.S.

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Puducherry will have to register themselves for the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) admission process for Govt. / Society-run / Govt. quota seats in private professional colleges/management quota by filling out their application form. Puducherry, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. Candidates who will qualify NEET Examand meet the eligibility requirements can only register and fill the application form for Andhra Pradesh, MBBS / BDS admission. Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) counseling is conducted in Three rounds (Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-up Round). The fourth round being theCollege Round, if the number of vacant seats is x, then a 10x the list of registered candidates will be sent to the college and is to be exhausted strictly in order of merit. Seat selection for Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota) will be exclusively through web counseling and for Management quota seats will be through offline counseling

Eligibility For Admission
1. Qualification:

• 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR & 40% for SC/ST/OBC.
• Those who have qualified NEET by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for the Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET counseling rounds
• AGE: A student must have completed an age of 17 years at the time of admission under NEET eligibility or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota)

It includes seats in Government colleges and Government shares of seats in Private colleges.

• 85% of Seats in Government colleges (after exclusion of 15 % seats transferred to All India Quota)
• As per U.T. Govt. norms for all Government quota seats, only Candidates who are residents of the U.T. of Puducherry are eligible

Counseling Minority Quota Seats (Management Quota) in Private Medical / Dental Colleges

1. For Minority Quota seats in Minority Medical / Dental Collegescandidates who areresidentsoftheU.T.ofPuducherryandbelongingtorespectiveminoritiesareonlyeligible,i.e., for the minority quota seats in PIMS, candidates who are residents of U.T. ofPuducherry and belonging to Christian religious minority alone are eligible. For the minorityquota seats in SVMC&RI candidates who are resident of the U.T. of Puducherry and belongingto the Telugu linguistic minority alone are eligible. The details of these seats and the fee structurewill be notified by the Health Department. You are advised to check the CENTAC website forupdates on these.
2. U.T.ofPuducherry candidatesclaiming seatsunderChristian MinorityQuotashouldproduce any valid documentary proof like Transfer Certificate or similar document to provehis/herreligion isCHRISTIANITY.
3. U.T.ofPuducherrycandidatesclaimingseatsunderTeluguMinorityQuotashouldproduceanyvaliddocumentaryprooflikeTransfer CertificateorSchooladmissioncertificatetoprovehis/her mothertongueisTELUGU.
4. Conversion of Minority Quota seats into General Management Quota seats:In case these minority quota seats are not filled in the TWO rounds of Counselling, then these unfilledseatswillbeconvertedtogeneral managementquota seatsandfilled onAllIndia basis.
5. For Management Quota seats in Private Collegescandidates are eligible on All Indiabasiswithout anyrestrictionregarding residencein theU.T. of Puducherry.

Eligibility for NRI Quota:

a) At least one of the parents of the student should be an NRI and shall ordinarily be residing abroad as an NRI.

OR

b) The person who sponsors the student for admission should be a first-degree relation of the student and should be ordinarily residing abroad as an NRI. The first-degree relation should be any of these:

i) Real brother and sister of father i.e. real uncle and real aunt.

ii) Real brother and sister of mother i.e. real maternal uncle and maternal aunt.

iii) Father and mother of father i.e. grandfather and grandmother.

v) Father and mother of mother i.e. maternal grandfather and maternal grandmother.

v) First degree-paternal and maternal cousins

THIRD Round (s): After conducting two or more rounds of seat allotment for Government / Private / Minority colleges, if seats remain vacant due to non-allotment, nonreporting for admission, and resigning after joining, or any other reason, those seats will be filled in Mop-Up round.

List of 1:10 Candidates: After mop-up counseling, if any stray vacancies remain, the list of candidates in the ratio of 1:10 (i.e., ten times the number of vacancies), in order of merit will be sponsored to the colleges. In order to sponsor only those candidates who are interested, CENTAC asks specifically for the willingness of candidates for sponsoring and also may open fresh registration as well, in addition to the existing candidate
