The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sheikhpura, Patna, is a Government College established in the Year 2011. IGIMS hospital was established on 19th November 1983, as an autonomous organisation on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The objective was to provide super specialty medical facilities to people of Bihar and also Sikkim, Nepal, Bhutan etc to give the best medicare at the lowest possible expense. To achieve these objectives the institute was established and named after the Former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi. The College is affiliated to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University) Patna, located in Bihar and recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) with an annual intake of 120 seats in MBBS, 91 seats in 19 disciplines of Postgraduate studies and 23 seats in 9 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies.
The campus is located in a sprawling campus of over 130 Acres Institutional buildings and housing and an additional Medical Technology Complex & Residence of 500 Acres & 370 Acres has been acquired and is been developed. The Medical college has a magnificent infrastructure with all the modern facilities in place. Huge and spacious Classrooms and Lecture halls. Seminar halls and Auditoriums. Well-equipped and ultra modern laboratories, Skill labs and Departmental museums. State of the art library facilities with very good collection of books and journals, back volumes, encyclopedias, E-Library and separate reading rooms with 24X7 accessibility. The IGIMS hospital is one of the best and busiest hospital in Patna with patient inflow from many neighbouring states as well. There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States.

The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at BIHAR will have to register themselves for the BCECE (UGMAC ) admission process by filling out their application form. Bihar, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET.
