GITAM Dental College and Hospital

The GITAM Dental College and Hospital was established in the year 2001 with an annual intake of 40 students and from the academic year 2003-04 the annual intake is increased to 100 students. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India issued letter of recognition for BDS Degree awarded by DR. Y.S.R University of Health Sciences and recognized by Dental Council of India with respect to BDS Students of GITAM Dental College & Hospital, Visakhapatnam.  GITAM Dental College & Hospital conducts frequent dental health camps for educating, motivating and treating the general public, especially the rural population, so as to improve their oral hygiene and health status. Currently the college has an annual intake of 100 seats in BDS and 44 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences. 

The Dental College has excellent infrastructure with over 2,25,000 sq. ft. Of built up area and is the largest of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. It has well equipped state-of-the-art library, modern clinical departments and pre-clinical and clinical laboratories. There is free transport facility for the patients and the treatment is also provided free of cost for the deserving poor. The college is equipped with latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment as well. There are technology driven air conditioned classrooms and seminar halls. There is an centrally air conditioned multiple Auditoriums within the campus. State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately. Areas for Foot ball, Cricket, Volley ball and Tennis are available. In addition, indoor game facilities are provided in the respective hostels. Gymnasium facilities are also provided. There are multiple food courts within the campus and there is wi-fi facility and bank and ATM facilities within the campus. 

It is attached with the Seven Hills Hospital for clinical practice which is run by GITAM University. With the mobile Dental Clinic, The Institute provides oral health camps and awareness programmes in and around the District of Visakhapatnam.

    GITAM Dental College and Hospital Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)/BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) in Andhra Pradesh

    The medical aspirants seeking MBBS/BDS admission at Dr. NTR University Of Health Sciences will have to register themselves for the Dr. NTRUHS admission process by filling out their application form. Counselling for MBBS Students (NEET-UG) in Andhra Pradesh will be conducted by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh, MBBS/BDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET-UG. Candidates who will qualify NEET-UG Exam and meet the eligibility requirements only can register and fill the application form for Andhra Pradesh, MBBS / BDS  admission. Dr. NTRUHS counseling is conducted in Three rounds (Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-up Round) and & for BDS there can be an extended mop-up if the percentile is decreased. This extended round will be conducted by the competent authority and if the seats are still vacant, then the college will be allowed to fill the seats from the merit list sent. Seat selection for Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota) and for Management Quota(MQ) seats will be through web counseling. Under NTRUHS, the Counselling procedure is divided into Convener quota-CQ (Govt.) and Management Quota(MQ1 & MQ2).

    Eligibility For Admission

    Qualification:

    • 12th or (10+2 Equivalent) with Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English for UR &  40% for SC/ST/OBC.
    • Those who have qualified NEET-UG by scoring the minimum qualifying percentage will be eligible for Admission and Counseling. Candidates should have earned a minimum of 50 percentile (40th  percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General-PH) in order to become eligible for NEET-UG counseling rounds
    • AGE: A student must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission under NEET-UG eligibility or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

    Government Seats (Competent Authority Quota)

    It includes seats in Government colleges and Government shares of seats in Private colleges.

    • 85% of Seats in Government colleges (after exclusion of 15 % seats transferred to All India Quota)
    • 50% of Seats in case of Private Un-aided Non-Minority and 50% of Minority Medical college and 50% in case of private Non-Minority Dental College
    • Non-local candidates are eligible for 15% unreserved seats only. The local candidates are also eligible for 15% unreserved seats along with 85% seats reserved for the local area.

    Local Areas:

    1. For admission to the Andhra University: Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam
    2. For admission to the Osmania University: Adilabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal
    3. For admission to the Sri Venkateswara University: Ananthapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor, and Nellore

    Local Category:

    Candidates who wish to apply for Andhra Pradesh NEET-UG counseling as local candidates will have to meet any of the following criteria with respect to the local area.

    1. Applicants must have studied for a period of four years consecutively in that area: the last year being the year of the qualifying examination
    2. Applicants must have resided in that area for four consecutive years immediately preceding the date of commencement of the qualifying examination
    3. Applicants possess a Local status certificate, issued by MRO

     

    • 50% of the available seats for admission by the University for MBBS/ BDS shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Backward Classes as follows:
