The Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, is a Government College established in the Year 1960. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. The college is located at the top of the Narakachal Hill with its extremely beautiful surroundings. The Gauhati Medical College, offers 200 seats in MBBS, Postgraduate Courses in 23 departments, and a Super Specialty course in 12 departments. It’s among the best 5 medical institutes in Northeast Region.The Gauhati Medical College Library was established in 1961.he Central Library is situated at the Narakachal hill top in the college main building.The Central Library has been provided with the broadband Internet facilities for the benefit of the students and staff.
Separate hostels are for girls and boys. Boys have around 4 hostels. Girls around 3 hostels. College has a tradition of providing an all-round development for students, by making available facilities for sports and for cultural activities. The college has very good infrastructural facilities for sports and related extra-curricular activities, which have been developed and have thrived over the years.

Gauhati Medical College Hospital is a tertiary care hospital with a bed strength of 2185. This hospital has all the superspeciality departments. Clinical board’s general specialties viz. This Cancer Hospital is attached to Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati spreading over 6 acres of Land with buildup area of 60000 sq ft.This hospital has the capacity of 200 beds with state of art facility of a modern cancer center with ICU, Operation rooms, daycare and palliative care services with Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology facilities. The PET CT along with Medical Cyclotron machine, the first of its kind in NE India is attached to this hospital.The Linear accelerator (LINAC), Cobalt Teletherapy and Brachythrapy machines are there to take care of radiotherapy service. There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States.
