The Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, is a Government College established in the Year 1960. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC)  and is affiliated  to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. The college is located at the top of the Narakachal Hill with its extremely beautiful surroundings. The Gauhati Medical College,  offers 200 seats in MBBS, Postgraduate Courses in 23 departments, and a Super Specialty course in 12 departments. It’s among the best 5 medical institutes in Northeast Region.The Gauhati Medical College Library was established in 1961.he Central Library is situated at the Narakachal hill top in the college main building.The Central Library has been provided with the broadband Internet facilities for the benefit of the students and staff.

Separate hostels are for girls and boys. Boys have around 4 hostels. Girls around 3 hostels. College has a tradition of providing an all-round development for students, by making available facilities for sports and for cultural activities. The college has very good infrastructural facilities for sports and related extra-curricular activities, which have been developed and have thrived over the years.

Gauhati Medical College Hospital is a tertiary care hospital with a bed strength of 2185. This hospital has all the superspeciality departments. Clinical board’s general specialties viz. Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology and Radiology, and three paraclinical departments viz. Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry are working in the Gauhati Medical College Hospital .The emergency medicine and trauma departments are working round the clock. It is adequately equipped to deal with all emergencies. The Intensive care unit is well equipped with monitors, ventilators and other supportive systems for giving necessary treatment to the critically ill-patients. All the supportive departments like laundry, CSSD, 24X7 indoor pharmacy, outdoor pharmacy during OPD hours, 24X7 investigation departments covering Biochemistry, Pathology and Radiology investigations, Diet section are also providing services to the patients coming to this hospital. New Mother and Child Hospital has been providing better service to the mother and baby. The NICU (Neonatal ICU) is 74 bedded giving care to both out born and inborn newborns in distress.

This Cancer Hospital is attached to Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati spreading over 6 acres of Land with buildup area of 60000 sq ft.This hospital has the capacity of 200 beds with state of art facility of a modern cancer center with ICU, Operation rooms, daycare and palliative care services with Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology facilities. The PET CT along with Medical Cyclotron machine, the first of its kind in NE India is attached to this hospital.The Linear accelerator (LINAC), Cobalt Teletherapy and Brachythrapy machines are there to take care of radiotherapy service. A dedicated team of Surgical,Medical and Radiation Oncologist,Pain & Palliative care, Anaesthesia and Crictical care specialists are rendering services to cancer patients of Assam and neighbouring states. Burn unit became functional from 28th July, 2013 in  hospital providing service to the burn patients.

    Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati MBBS NEETUG Counseling is conducted by 1) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)( Open To All )and 2) Directorate of Medical Education(DME), Assam (State Domicile)

    The MCC/DGHS will be doing Counseling for 15% AIQ, 100% Deemed Universities, Central Universities (Delhi University, AMU & BHU including Institutional/ Domicile Quota), ESIC, AFMC(only Registration Part) &I.P University (VMMC & SJH AND ABVIMS & RML& ESIC Dental, Delhi (15% AIQ + 85% Institutional Quota ) 100% AIIMS, 100% JIPMER and B.Sc. Nursing (only 08 Central Institutes).The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Testing Agency i.e. the NEET (UG) examination conducting body

     There will be four rounds of AIQ online counseling i.e. AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up Round and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021 in the matter of Nihila P.P. v/s MCC & Ors. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India) which will be conducted in online mode. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across the Country. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NTA website. Cut-off rank of eligible candidates will also be available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in). No seats will be reverted back after the completion of round 2 of AIQ to the States. 

    Reservation Policy for 15% All India Quota seats: 

    The Reservation Policy of the Central Government for the NEET-UG Counselling in All India Quota is as follows:

    S.C.- 15% 

    S.T.- 7.5% 

    O.B.C.- (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list- 27%

     EWS- as per Central Government norms- 10%

     PwD- Horizontal Reservation as per NMC norms- 5%

    NOTE:- Reservation of seats under PWD Category is 5% in AIQ & as per NMC norms (Gazette Notification no. MCI-34(41)/2018-Med./170045 dated 04/02/2019). For range of disabilities included, please see Annexure ‘1’.

    • Candidates who registered for Round-1 and did not get any seat allotted are not required to register again.

    Who registered in Round-2 & exited with Forfeiture of fees without joining can register again with payment of fees. However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission upto Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/DNB will not be eligible to participate in Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. (Those who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round-1 & Round-2 need not register again).
