Bapuji Dental College & Hospital established in the year 1979 is one of the pioneer college offering Dental studies and has one of the finest lab facilities and infrastructure. It is found by  Dr. Shamanur Shivashankarappa who is a visionary, a great educationist and a politician who has started many educational institutions to serve the people. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka and recognized by  Dental Council of India  with the annual intake of 100 seats in BDS and 51 seats in various streams of Postgraduate Dental Sciences. Bapuji Dental College is one of the very few Indian colleges doing research projects for US based International companies like GC International, 3M ESPE(USA), Biohorizons(USA) and the like. Various research projects have been carried out in all the specialties of dentistry and published in respected peer-reviewed journals.

The Dental college is located in a lush green campus having a dedicated constructed area of 170977 sq.ft and a non-constructed area of 49458 sqft with state of the art infrastructure which has set high standards in terms of Dental Education and creates an environment for excellent student oriented, patient friendly environment with dedicated faculty in place. Currently the college is equipped with 335 latest electronic Dental chairs and has set up a well maintained laboratory with all the latest equipment. There are technology driven air conditioned gallery type lecture halls with a large greenboard and full audio-visual and multimedia projection capabilities. There are spacious examination hall with a seating capacity of 250 students at a time and seminar halls. The Library is spread in a huge area of 15827 sqft with a seating capacity of 300 and has good collection of books and National and International Journals with back volumes. There is an excellent E-Library facility as well to benefit the students. State of art preclinical labs equipped with patient simulations and Wi Fi enabled campus. There is a Dental education museum within the campus. The campus houses well ventilated spacious hostels for girls and boys separately with staff quarters. The playground in the sprawling campus is ideal for basketball, football, cricket and volleyball and other games. It is attached with the Bapuji Hospital for clinical practice.
