Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS), New Delhi formerly known as Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is a higher Medical training and research institute at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi. The College is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, located in Delhi and recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC). It was established in 2009 as Post Graduation and Super Specialization College. In 2019, it also started MBBS course with 100 seats in MBBS, 166 seats in 17 disciplines of Post-Graduate studies and 41 seats in 10 disciplines of Super- Specialization studies. 

The college runs in the PGIMER, New Delhi building connected to the RML hospital campus. It boasts of state of the art lecture theatres, a new Dissection hall, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology labs and a huge library. Further a new MBBS building is to be constructed, delayed due to covid-19 pandemic.

The Teaching Hospital

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, formerly known as Willingdon Hospital, was established by the British for their staff and had only 54 beds. After independence, its control was shifted to New Delhi Municipal Committee. In 1954, its control was again transferred to the Central Government of Independent India. The hospital has grown over the years and is currently having about 1420 beds, spread over in 30 acres of land. It caters to the population of New Delhi and Central District, apart from patients from other areas and even from out side Delhi. It is having 71 beds in a Nursing Home for the C.G.H.S beneficiaries, including Maternity Nursing Home. It is fully funded by the Government of India (Ministry of Health Family Welfare). No Emergency Patients are Refused treatment in this Hospital. A non-invasive Cardiac Lab and a Cardiac Cath Lab exists in this hospital, in which facility for TMT, Echo-Cardiography, Coronary Angiography and Pace Maker implantation are available. Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Neuro Surgery facilities are available in the Hospital. 

This hospital has round the clock emergency services in Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics and Paediatrics. The facilities in other specialties are also available on call basis. All supportive services like laboratory, X - Ray, CT-Scan, Ultrasound, Blood Bank and Ambulances are available round the clock. A Coronary Care Unit and an Intensive Care Unit exists in the hospital for serious Cardiac and Non-Cardiac patients. The hospital has laid down disaster action plan & disaster beds, which are made operational in case of mass casualties and disaster. In a year hospital provides services to about 18 lakhs patients as OPD cases, admits about 67000 patients in Indoor and about 3 lakhs patients are attended in the Emergency. About 10000 yellow fever vaccination and 915 delivery cases. Similarly about 5,000 CT Scan, 1.70 lakhs X-Ray cases, 28 lakhs laboratory tests and about 17,000 Ultrasound are done. Hospital conducts about 9,000 Major and 40,000 Minor operations during a year.

  • Admission Process

    The MCC/DGHS will be doing Counseling for 15% AIQ, 100% Deemed Universities, Central Universities (Delhi University, AMU & BHU including Institutional/ Domicile Quota), 100% ESIC, AFMC (only Registration Part) & I.P University (VMMC & SJH AND ABVIMS & RML & ESIC Dental, Delhi (15% AIQ + 85% Institutional Quota ) 100% AIIMS & 100% JIPMER. There will be four rounds of counseling i.e. Round 1, Round 2 of AIQ and Mop-Up Round & Stray Vacancy Round for 18 AIIMS. Out of the four rounds, three rounds will be conducted online by MCC i.e. Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-Up Round. The Stray Vacancy round shall be conducted by AIIMS for which the list of registered Candidates for the Stray Vacancy, will be forwarded by the MCC to AIIMS. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by NTA including candidates from the Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. 

    Eligibility condition for VMMC & SJH; ABVIMS & RML State Quota seats:

    • Candidate, who have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system conducted by the C.B.S.E./Council of the Indian School Certificate Examination/Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi with required subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from the recognized schools conducting regular classes situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi only, will be eligible for admission for MBBS/BDS Programme.
    • Candidate must have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (core or elective or functional) individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates, subject to the availability of seat for these categories in the respective institutions
    • AGE: A student must have completed an age of 17 years at the time of admission under NEET eligibility or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

     Reservation

    Reservation for candidates belonging to different categories is provided for admission to MBBS/BDS course. All the candidates who belongs to any of the category can claim ofr the same. The details of reservation are as follows.

    Seat Distribution

    15% Seats will be contributed by the VMMC & SJH; ABVIMS & RML and ESIC Dental to All India Quota. For the rest of 85% seats, candidates who have studied 11th & 12th grade in Delhi are eligible for Institutional/State Quota of 85% in VMMC & SJH, ABVIMS & RML, and ESIC Dental.  

    Registration Fees 

    - Students have to pay two kinds of fee

    For (15% All India Quota)/ Central Universities (DU, AMU, BHU and Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi)/AFMC & ESI/ All AIIMS/ JIPMER Non Refundable Registration fee:- Rs. 1000/- for UR candidates & Rs. 500/- For SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH candidates.

     Refundable security amount:- Rs.10,000/- for UR candidates & Rs. 5,000/- for SC/ST/OBC/PH e.g. any UR candidate opting for Central Universities/ AFMC/ ESI will pay Rs. 1000/-+ Rs. 10,000= Rs. 11,000 at the time of registration.

    Any SC/ST/OBC/PH candidate will pay Rs. 500 + Rs.5,000 = Rs. 5,500 at the time of registration.

    REGISTRATION & COUNSELING PROCESS 

    ROUND-1 

    a) Main counseling Registration which will include payment of Non-Refundable Registration fee and Refundable Security Deposit (to be refunded only in the account from which payment has been made). 

    b) Exercising of Choices and Locking of choices.

     c) Process of Seat Allotment Round-1 

    d) Publication of result of Round-1on MCC website 

    e) Reporting at the Allotted Medical/Dental College against 1 Round. 

    ROUND-2 (Candidates who registered for Round-1 and did not get any seat allotted are not required to register again.) 

    a) Fresh New Registration for Round-2 for those candidates who • Have not registered in Round-1 (with full payment of fees). • Have Resigned / Not reported in Round-1 need not register again. • Fresh Choice filling Round-2.

     b) Publication of result of Round-2 on MCC website.

     c) Reporting at the Allotted Medical/Dental College against Round 2 

    END of 15 % All India Counselling and reverting of Non-Joined, Not allotted seats to State quota / Institutional Quota of Central University /Central Institute. MOP –UP ROUND 

    Mop Up Round (Only for Deemed/ Central Universities, ESIC, AIIMS & JIPMER)

      Fresh Registration with payment of registration fee for Mop Up Round for the following  candidates : 

    i. Those who registered in Round-1 & exited availing Free Exit

    ii. Who registered in Round-2 & exited with Forfeiture of fees can register again with payment of fees.

     However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission in Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/AIIMS/JIPMER will not be eligible to participate in Mop Up Round. (Those who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round-1 & Round-2 need not register again). 

    • Fresh choice filling of Mop-Up Round
    • Publication of result of Mop-Up Round on MCC website
    • Reporting at the Allotted Medical/ Dental College after Mop-Up Round

    List of Registered Candidates ten times the number of Stray vacancies to be sent to Deemed / Central Universities/AIIMS/JIPMER to be exhausted strictly in order of merit. 

    FINAL STRAY VACANCY ROUND To be conducted by Deemed/ Central Universities/AIIMS/JIPMER (There will be no Fresh Registration of Candidates in Final Stray Vacancy Round)
